Must be licensed as both a Funeral Director and Embalmer inWashingtonState.  Two (2) years experience is preferred.  The successful candidate will start work immediately.

ODD FELLOWS MEMORIAL PARK IS HIRING!

The Odd Fellows Memorial Park Cemetery is looking to hire an entry level part time grounds keeper. The Days to be worked are Monday, Wednesday, Friday for 8 hours each day. There will be times they will be required to work on a Saturday or Sunday for a period of 4 hours for a burial service. These services are scheduled several days in advance.  

The equipment they will use are weed trimmers, backpack blowers, zero turn lawn mowers, a small tractor with a trailer and eventually a backhoe. Also will be using various gardening tools. Some equipment maintenance such as changing oil and filters.

SUMMARY

This position ensures that the daily mortuary activities at their location support and enhance all other corporate operations.  Contributes to their mortuary location’s profitability and growth by providing effective leadership, direction and administration of the daily mortuary operations.  This position serves as a member of the leadership team, and reports directly to the President.

The Managing Director will be a compassionate and strong natural leader with demonstrated organizational and follow-through skills.

Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversees the daily operations of their mortuary location, as well as supporting all other mortuary operations, including first calls, preparation work, arrangement conferences, scheduling staff and service coverage, crematory operations, and inventory control.
  • Coordinates daily mortuary activities and staffing with other managing directors.
  • Contributes to the achievement of the mortuary's financial objectives by monitoring income and expenses, enforcing corporate payment policies, and ensuring timely collection of accounts receivables.
  • Contributes to the achievement of the mortuary’s customer service objectives by monitoring client family surveys, client family correspondence, and/or verbal conversations, and addressing any performance concerns in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Plans, directs, appraises, coaches, corrects, rewards, trains, on-boards, off-boards and resolves employee issues.
  • Participates with other managers in developing, implementing and supporting the company's policies, procedures, financial objectives and marketing efforts.
  • Participates in arrangement conferences, transfers, and other funeral director/embalmer activities as needed.
  • Ensures a safe work environment. Asks for and addresses employee / customer safety concerns, provides safety training, supports monthly safety committee activities, completes timely injury and return-to-work reports, maintains good relationship with employees on work comp leave and conducts monthly facility safety inspections.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of the facility by directing maintenance, repairs and purchase of merchandise and supplies.
  • Ensures that all projects and reports concerning departmental activities are complete, accurate and on time.
  • Keeps the President informed on financial issues and other issues affecting corporate performance or community relations.
  • Contributes to the company's public image as a positive corporate citizen by participating in community relations, public relations, industry relations, and marketing efforts.
  • Plans, develops and implements organizational policies and goals. Confers with administrative personnel and reviews activity, operating, and sales reports to determine changes in programs or operations required.

Education/Experience:

 Four-year college or university program degree or certificate; four years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must either possess or be able to secure a funeral director license in the State of Washington within one year.
