Seattle — The Washington Trust for Historic Preservation has announced new rounds of funding available for owners and stewards of historic cemeteries and theaters in Washington State. The Historic Cemetery and Theater Grants are programs of the Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (DAHP), administered under contract by the Washington Trust.
Owners of any cemetery within the state of Washington with five or more burials, at least one being more than 50 years old, are eligible for this Historic Cemetery grant program. Approximately $500,000 is available in this grant cycle, with maximum individual awards up to $50,000.
Owners of historic theaters that were originally built as a theater or that are in a historic building converted for theater use can apply for a Historic Theater Grant. Grant funds will only be awarded to rehabilitation projects on buildings in active theater use or projects seeking to return such use to a historic theater building. Approximately $500,000 is available in this grant cycle with maximum individual awards of $75,000.
